How To Create Your Nutrition Packages

One of the most effective ways to support your nutrition clients with their health and wellness goals is to support them inside of nutrition packages or programs vs. the traditional model of offering one-off nutrition sessions.

Offering nutrition packages or programs allows you to build a solid foundation with your client over a longer period of time. It also acts as a commitment between you, the nutrition practitioner, and your client.

When clients have the option to purchase a package or program, they are essentially investing in a plan to work towards their health goals over the course of a few weeks or months and understand that change takes time.

One-off nutrition sessions typically don’t work in getting your nutrition clients long-term results.

These sessions typically do not offer enough time to support the client with their health goals and oftentimes, leave the client feeling overwhelmed by giving them too many recommendations in a short period of time.

Also, by only offering one-off nutrition sessions, you as the practitioner will have to put a lot of effort into marketing one-off sessions in order to fill your practice.

Offering longer packages or programs ensures that your clients are receiving the support they need to make changes over time instead of trying to change everything all at once.

This ensures that your clients will reach their health goals in a sustainable way and in turn, you will receive better testimonials and potential referrals from your happy clients!

How to Structure Your Nutrition Packages

Instead of only offering one-off nutrition sessions for your clients, consider bundling sessions together for better client results and compliance.

This can typically look like coming up with your pricing for one session, and then bundling 3, 6, or 9 nutrition sessions together and offering a discount for the more sessions that your client purchases.

It’s recommended that you put an expiry date on your session packages so that your clients are booking in their sessions within a reasonable time frame for the best results.

Here is an example of how you can set up a nutrition package with 3 sessions:

  • Session 1 - 60 Minute Client Intake Session
In this session, you will go over your client’s health history and goals, and go through any intake forms in detail to review any information and ask additional questions to your client.

  • Session 2 - 60 Minute Client Health Plan Session
In this session, you will provide your client with nutrition recommendations that they can incorporate into their routine over a period of time. You can explain the importance of each recommendation and give your clients an opportunity to ask questions.

  • Session 3 - 30 Minute Follow Up Session
In this session, you will go over your client’s wins and struggles since your last session. Your client will have the opportunity to share their progress and ask any follow-up questions. You can then provide your client with the next steps and offer additional support if needed.

Here are some benefits of offering nutrition packages:

  • You’ll have more time to support your client without overwhelming them with too many changes, too fast.

  • Nutrition packages provide accountability, motivation and support—there’s limited follow-up with one-off sessions, making it easier for your client to slip back into old habits. This can be avoided with packages!

  • You can use certain business tools to make your nutrition package delivery organized and streamlined

  • Instead of having to market one-off sessions to new clients every single month, you can retain clients for a longer period of time by having them sign up for a pre-determined amount of sessions

How to Structure Your Nutrition Programs

Nutrition programs are slightly different from nutrition packages, as they typically offer more client support in between sessions, are to be completed within a specific time frame, and usually target one specific problem that your client is struggling with.

If you are clear on your niche and who you want to help in your nutrition business, you can create programs specific to the needs of your clients.

Nutrition programs that solve a specific problem can help your client reach their health goals faster and also help you to get better testimonials from your clients.

Here are two ways you can set up your nutrition programs:

Monthly Nutrition Programs

Monthly nutrition programs are a good option if you want to work with your clients for a set period of time. Most commonly Nutritionists will offer programs with a 1, 3 or 6-month time commitment.

Here is an example of how you can set up a 1 month nutrition program:

  • Week 1 - 60 Minute Client Intake Session

  • Week 2 - 60 Minute Client Health Plan Session

  • Week 3 - 30 Minute Follow-Up Session

  • Week 4 - 30 Minute Follow-Up Session

This container of time can help your client to stay focused on working towards their health goals for a specific period of time, with an end goal in mind.

You’ll have the opportunity to check in with your clients in-between sessions and give them a high level of hands-on support during the time frame they have signed up for.

Signature Nutrition Programs

Signature Programs are a great option if you’re clear on your niche, since signature programs typically focus on solving a specific problem, i.e. hormones, gut health, fatigue, etc.

These programs are broken down week by week and usually follow a predetermined framework to achieve the desired results, with the added bonus of offering resources and handouts for additional support.

They often start with a client intake session and then sessions are booked in as needed to follow the framework of your signature program.

Here is an example of a 3-month gut health signature program:

  • Bloat-Free Belly

  • 3 Month Program

  • What’s Included: Client Intake Session, Client Health Plan Session, Weekly Follow-Up Sessions, Handouts, Meal Plans, Supplement Recommendations, Support Between Sessions

An added bonus of a signature program is once you run a number of clients through it and make any necessary changes, you can consider turning it into a group program or even a passive online course!

How to Sell Your Nutrition Packages and Programs

Once your nutrition packages and programs are all set up, it’s time to fill them with clients!

Start by sharing about your new offerings with your audience, and remember to talk about the benefits they will receive when working with you in your new package or program.

Share how your package or program will help your client reach their health goals and why you are the right nutrition practitioner to help them achieve this!

Creating nutrition packages and programs that sell is just one piece of the puzzle when starting a profitable nutrition practice.

Ensuring that you have a solid niche in place, an organized way to onboard and work with your clients and strategic ways to market and grow your business are essential when starting and growing your nutrition practice.
